From: njhoa@yahoogroups.com on behalf of Michele Samarya-Timm [michele.samarya-timm@twp.franklin.nj.us] Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2007 12:19 PM Subject: [njhoa] School handwashing podcast from CDC Colleagues: I am *very excited* to share the newly released School Handwashing podcast to promote handwashing and the Healthy Schools, Healthy People - It's a SNAP colloabrative education effort between the CDC and the Soap and Detergent Association. This program, over the past several years, has encouraged hundreds of middle-school students to create their own initiatives to increase handwashing amongst their peers. The success of this program is realized in the reduction of illness within the participating schools, and in the documented behavior change in the students themselves. And -- probably even more exciting -- is the active enthusiasm of the students and the sustainability of the initiatives that they have created. As we begin to prepare for another school year, please do encourage participation from the students and schools in your communities. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this initiative or related public health handwashing education -- I'm always happy to continue to promote handwashing!
