The Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) nurtures a new generation of environmental leaders characterized by diversity, innovation, collaboration, and effective communications. ELP addresses the needs of relatively new environmental activists and professionals by providing them with inspiring and up-to-date training. ELP’s Regional Networks are innovative programs designed to build the capacity of promising emerging leaders in designated regions across the United States. We define emerging leaders as practitioners who are relatively new to the environmental and social change fields with approximately three to ten years of experience. We define “environmental” broadly to include public health, transportation policy and planning, economic development, business and broad-based community organizing. Our yearlong fellowship program, through its Fellow retreats, offers unique networking opportunities, intensive leadership and skills training, support and time for personal and professional reflection. Retreats in 2008 will take place in White Haven, PA February 21-24, Bordentown, NJ May 16-18 and Lewes, DE Sept 12-14. The Regional Networks Program provides an opportunity for talented individuals to garner professional recognition and have a substantial impact on the environmental and social change movements through collaboration with other emerging leaders. The Delaware Valley Regional Network is currently recruiting for its 2008 Fellowship class and we are looking for outstanding environmental leaders in the Region.
